Porcelain Crowns
A crown is a tooth-shaped restoration that completely covers the natural tooth to just below the gum line. While they are intended to strengthen damaged teeth, Dr. Griffin may suggest seating or applying a crown to a tooth for a number of reasons.
A crown can restore the appearance of a cracked or chipped tooth. If teeth are mildly out of alignment, crowns can make your teeth appear straighter. Crowns can cover bleach-resistant stains on teeth and make your smile look whiter. If your bite is causing chips or cracks in your teeth, Dr. Griffin may cover your teeth with crowns since they are more durable and less susceptible to chipping or fracture.
Even if you have an existing crown, many patients schedule a consultation with Dr. Griffin to have their older metal crowns replaced with a newer, more natural looking crown. If you have damage to your teeth and think a crown may help, talk to Dr. Griffin. He can analyze your smile and suggest the best treatment for you.
